Abstract

We present X-ray and polarised neutron reflectivity data from a Co(200 Å)/12[UAs(80 Å)/Co(20 Å)] multilayer. There is reasonable agreement between values of the thicknesses determined from the X-ray data and those from the neutron data; both indicate slightly larger UAs thicknesses than of the nominal structure. Analysis of the polarised neutron data indicates that there is magnetism in all layers. However, due to the large ferromagnetic signal from the underlying cobalt, magnitudes of the moments in the constituent layers have not been determined unambiguously.
