Abstract
A demonstration of all-optical polarisation bistability and high contrast switching in a nonlinear cavity fabricated entirely from isotropic materials is reported with the appropriate analysis. The polarisation dependence arises from the difference in phase change for each orthogonal polarisation on reflecting from a dielectric-metal interface at non-normal incidence. © 1990.
