Abstract
Existing commercial sonar systems for sub-sea application are generally design specific with only one application or deployment mode employing a specific array configuration. A better system which is a digital focused beamforming operation (DFB) for pixel based imaging in any coordinate system is presented and illustrated. This algorithm has significant potential in 3D imaging in a variety of subsea applications, particularly for ROV based inspection and survey.
