Abstract

The authors have investigated the temporal responses of a number of nonlinear filters, held both in the bistable regime and beneath the bistable power levels, and illuminated by 25-ps frequency-doubled Nd:YAG pulses. The aim was to understand the speed limitations and physical mechanisms that control them. The results are presented and discussed.
