Abstract

With the growing popularity of wireless devices, mobile users are wanting access to communications regardless of where they are and what devices they are using. Although most research has focussed on ubiquitous access to communication, people also want to have more control over when, where and how communications are delivered. This paper describes a personalized communication system that is able to intercept, filter, convert and direct communications to an appropriate device in an appropriate form depending on the user's context and preferences, thereby giving the user control over the delivery and presentation of information. This approach has been adapted to a pervasive system in the Daidalos project. © 2007 - IOS Press and the authors. All rights reserved.
