Abstract

This paper describes three passive lossless circuits for recovering turn-on snubber energy, which are applicable to high frequency power converters. The inductive trapped energy, which is load current dependent, is recovered into the DC supply, load or both, at switch turn-off. The operational processes of the circuits, which may be operated as a hard-clamped or soft-clamped snubber, are analyzed and compared. Simulations, along with experimental results, are given.
