Abstract

It has become increasingly important to understand what are the key aspects of carrying out substantial innovation around the subject of sustainability. Not only from an economic perspective, which is based exclusively on potential business opportunities and financial incentives, but more so also from an environmental perspective and a social point of view. We have identified that there are at the very least three key sustainability concepts that stand out as critically important factors to focus on in order for an organization to succeed with developing, implementing, and executing substantial innovation around sustainability, and they are to develop a Substantial Innovation Strategy, develop a Sustainability Roadmap, and implement a Continuous Improvement process to keep succeeding. Substantial sustainability innovation has become an important aspect of corporate social responsibility and is crucial for businesses looking to operate responsibly and mitigate their impact on the planet.
