Abstract
The order-disorder transition in NiCr2S4 were examined by high-temperature powder neutron diffraction. At 835(5) °C, NiCr2S4 transforms from the monoclinic Cr3S4 structure to a hexagonal cation-deficient NiAs structure. With increasing temperature, the site occupancy of the 2(d) site increased from its initial zero value, to a value of ca. 30% at 830 °C.
