Abstract

A practical method for the optimal heat releasing of the diesel engine was put forward, which takes the total cycle of a diesel engine as a dynamic thermodynamic system based on the zero-dimensional cycle calculation, while the optimal dynamic response of the combustion subsystem is identified by the optimal matching of the total dynamic system, so that the optimal heat-releasing efficiency, optimal fuel economy and optimal power output of the diesel engine are then obtained. A new judgement method for exploiting the potential of the existing diesel engines was then provided by this investigation, besides, as an illustration, a practical optimization calculation was carried out for a high-output medium-speed diesel engine.
