Abstract
This working paper Kerstin Pfeiffer investigates the concept of performance, drawing on theatre and performance studies. She considers performance an embodied act of communication between performers and the audience whereby meaning is co-created. One interesting link she draws is between the aesthetic and the political, the boundaries of which are erased during the liminal period of the performance. A further point she ponders on is the affective exchange that takes place during such events that can have implications beyond the ephemeral moment of the performance.
