Abstract
This is a brief response to the Special Issue of the Journal of Education Policy (vol. 9, nos. 5 & 6) The Study of Educational Politics-the Politics of Education Association's 1994 Commemorative Yearbook. The ethnocentrism of the Yearbook in ignoring non-American contributions to the theoretical and empirical study of educational politics raises critical issues. The response ventures explanations of this in terms of the nature of the field, which affects non-Americans as well. It argues for a broader range of approaches, and for comparative analysis.
