Abstract
Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) of laser radiation is investigated to study both the fundamental physics of the phenomenon and its numerous applications. The inhomogeneity of the SBS spectrum in optical fibers is analyzed. A single longitudinal and fundamental transverse mode continuous wave Nd:YAG laser is used as the pump source. Its radiation is launched into an optical fiber via a 10× microscope lens.
