Abstract
Politically Correct is a discursive practice that aims to contain thoughts considered prejudiced without, however, weakening the prejudice itself. By containing the issuer’s real opinion, the Politically Correct discourse can interfere with methodologies based on the user’s perception, inducing socially convenient responses. However, the influence of ageism and Politically Correct discourse in intergenerational studies of Perception and Assessment of the Environment by the User is little explored. This study aims to provide a basis for the choice and dosimetry of approach to themes that may be target of the Politically Correct in quantitative analysis studies. Questionnaires were applied in the city of Pelotas, comparing the performance of three different formulations of multiple choice questions, which reflect three levels of sensitivity in approaching the theme. The study suggests significant differences in research results that addresses prejudice due to the change in the degree of sensitivity employed in formulating closed questions.
