Abstract
A novel fiber Bragg grating (FBG) decoder is proposed for simultaneous time domain coherent optical code recognition and chromatic dispersion compensation. We derive the target frequency response of such a device and use the discrete layer peeling method to synthesize it. This dispersion compensation FBG decoder guarantees the system performance and simplifies the network structure. We also discuss the tolerance of the proposed device to the phase shift error in the fabrication. © 2010 IEEE.
