Abstract

This paper addresses an implementation of a three-dimensional nonlinear finite element model to assess the behaviour of slab-column connections under gravity loading. The commercial finite element package, ABAQUS, was used to efficiently capture the load deformation behaviour of slab-column connections. The geometric and material model adopted for the simulations are investigated and the model parameters are determined. Experimental data on slab-column connections reported by Li is used to validate and calibrate the proposed finite element models.
