Abstract

Nanotechnology, the manipulation of materials at the nanoscale, has revolutionized various industries, and the textile industry is one of them. Smart textiles, also known as electronic textiles or e-textiles, is a fast-growing field where nanotechnology plays a pivotal role in enhancing their functionality and performance. This chapter explores the exciting intersection of nanotechnology and smart textiles, highlighting the key advancements, applications, and future prospects in this domain. From the integration of nanomaterials like nanofibers, nanocoatings, and nanoparticles into textiles to the emergence of wearable electronics and environmental sensing, the chapter delves into the innovative ways nanotechnology enhances textile functionality. Furthermore, it discussed the challenges of cost, durability, and safety associated with nanotechnology in textiles and offers insights into potential solutions. As nanotechnology continues to advance, the possibilities for smart textiles appear limitless, promising revolutionary developments across industries and a brighter, smarter future.
