Abstract

An international exhibition book in partnership with contemporary ready-to-wear and Haute Couture brands, international Fashion Fairs (Playtime), and first class Museums (Musée Galliéra, MISE…). For the first time in European researches on children’s goods, this exhibition aims to explore the printed patterns in children’s fashion through history and the way they contribute to the specialisation of children’s fashion during the second part of the 19th century. A typological approach aims to understand the pedagogical and cultural impact of these patterns, the way they help the development of children’s sensitivity, the way they educate them to the appropriate drawing techniques and subjects. Printed patterns create not only a difference between children’s and adult’s fashion, but are part of the education of children. Bilingual catalogue, with the contributions of researchers in education studies, designers and historians.
