Abstract
A modeling technique for the placement of scale inhibitor treatments was developed and was used to model a squeeze treatment in a horizontal well in a Chevron-operated Alba reservoir. Assessment of various treatment designs enabled a treatment to be specified to increase squeeze treatment lifetime without increasing the required chemical. This modelled strategy also reduces the initial inhibitor concentration spike in the return curve, representing a considerable production advantage in addition to extending squeeze lifetime by reducing early chemical losses through immediate backproduction.
