Abstract

This paper presents miniaturized designs of metallo-dielectric EBG structures based on double layer array configurations. The two layers are closely coupled together producing a significant lowering of the band gap frequency. We present the dispersion characteristics of closely coupled dipole and tripole arrays, their measured surface wave responses and the effect of overall array size on surface wave suppression.
