Abstract
There are varying levels of application at which microcomputer tools can be effectively deployed in mechanical analysis and design - either as simple calculating machines for everyday problems, or as 'higher-order' processors for more demanding work. This article illustrates a particular utilisation of microcomputer technology within a medium to heavy marine engineering environment, by outlining a methodology of application within a company design function.
