Abstract

This paper opens up the problem of sampling in the research of the innovation phenomenon and reviews various taxonomies of the innovative organisations and the influence of different organisational parameters on the level of innovativeness of the company. The influence of various organisational parameters was examined,such as the size, age, structure as well as the strategic approach and industry, on the level of innovativeness of the company. Some of the findings contradict each other, others are more consistent. This paper attemptsto look at the possibility to consolidate various taxonomies and identify their relation to each other,and raises the issues of the companies’ representativeness that the scholars are trying to achieve when choosing the sample for their studies in innovation.
