Abstract
This article reports the use of online GIS in the spatialization, analysis and narrative of information produced during a participatory mapping workshop held in the Navegantes neighbourhood in the city of Pelotas, Brazil. Participatory mapping was one of the methodologies used in a survey involving Brazil, the United Kingdom and India, which focused on exploring how older people face aging in different urban, social, and cultural contexts. Participatory mapping sought to represent the relationship between place and people and identify their physical and sociocultural meanings. The GIS was used as a methodological tool to translate and narrate the information and results produced. The integrated use of methodologies made it possible to identify barriers and opportunities for active and participatory aging. With the use of online GIS resources, it was possible to integrate the maps with texts and images and create a dynamic narrative, visually attractive and accessible through the research page on the internet.
