Abstract
Following a review of the significance of sliding bubble effects in boiling heat transfer, an analytic model is described which allows the thickness of the liquid film between a bubble and a wall to be estimated. Experiments using an optical technique of film thickness measurement are described and the results compared with predictions obtained from the model.
