Laser beam shaping for manufacturing processes

Abstract

The standard laser beam shape (typically Gaussian or similar) is not always optimal for a particular process. In this presentation the use of adaptive optics (both deformable mirrors and spatial light modulators) to dynamically alter the beam shape is investigated for laser precison machining processes.
