    Abstract

Klebsiella pneumoniae was recovered in virtual pure culture growth from diseased tails and fins on 12 rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss, Walbaum). Laboratory-based infectivity experiments confirmed the ability of the organism to cause fin-rot on rainbow trout, providing that the finage had been previously abraded. Also, K. pneumoniae caused mortalities following administration via the intramuscular and intraperitoneal routes.
