abstract = "Large-scale solar projects in Malaysia had grown from an export capacity of 451 MWac to 563 MWac, indicating an increase of 25% from 2018 to 2020. The power quality of the distribution network is important to be monitored via an optimal power system management scheme. Voltage fluctuation could occur due to overloading, harmonic distortion, output power variation, intermittency of renewable resources, etc. This paper investigates the voltage profile variation and develops a reactive power compensation scheme by implementing an optimal bus topology into the LSS system. In Stage 1, a preliminary resources assessment has been carried out on the LSS sites from Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia. In Stage 2, load flow analysis and contingency analysis have been carried out to identify optimum voltage profile using different bus topologies. Integration of a flexible alternating current transmission system demonstrated an increase of 5% in voltage profile performance. The outcome exhibits minimal loss in the system using the in-electricity standards in Malaysia Grid Code. This research serves as a reference to the LSS stakeholders, national policy-decision makers, and non-profit organizations who planned similar initiatives in meeting regional energy targets.",
