International conference on II-VI compounds & devices

The seventh International II-VI conference was held recently. Delegates from Sony, Phillips, 3M and Brown-Purdue were the major players. From very early on in the conference, the message was that there are no shortcuts in the development of these devices. Overall, the major thrust of the meeting was of diversification of the range of research undertaken in the II-VI filed, along with a more concentrated effort on the problems specific to lasers and LFDs.
