    Abstract

Considers the utility of a matched pairs design in industrial research with an emphasis upon spatial comparisons. The matched pairs design is compared with conventional probability sampling and is shown to have advantages in certain circumstances. The major analytical options available to the researcher adopting this design are reviewed, and the practical problems of implementing the design are discussed and solutions proposed. -Authors
