Abstract

This paper provides an accurate intelligent model for the phase behavior of biodiesel/alcohol/glycerol ternary system. The proposed model is developed and generalized over 643 experimental data for different ternary systems (28 fatty acid alkyl esters (FAAE)/2 methanol + ethanol/glycerol) at atmospheric pressure within temperature ranges [298.15393.15 K]. The models were verified by comparison with activity models (i.e., UNIQUAC/Dortmund) in terms of accuracy. The proposed model was validated with data of two ternary systems out of the considered datasets. The validity of the developed model was also checked by an Othmer-Tobias plot. The Othmer-Tobias plot predicts the plait point corresponds to the system biodiesel/ethanol/glycerol with RMSE 0.665%.
