Abstract
The paper provides a longitudinal study of the application of computer aids in a traditional batch engineering business. It exemplifies the problems of implementation when basic management approaches and skills are not effectively applied. The picture is far from gloomy since a major CADCAM innovation continues on a successful implementation path. This highlights a capability for success which will be directed to the more difficult problem of production planning and control systems re-implementation.
