Abstract

Optical metasurfaces [1,2] are gaining an unprecedented interest within academia and industry, with the rise of start-ups fully focused on the development of meta-devices and the integration of meta-optics in consumer electronics, often partnering with tech giants and leading semiconductor companies [3-5]. In this context, STMicroelectronics has successfully developed and commercialized a class of Time of Flight (ToF) devices operating in NIR regime and integrating Diffractive Optical Elements (DOEs) based on subwavelength optical metastructures, so-called Meta Optical Elements (MOEs) for sensing applications in the consumer market.
