High efficiency frequency doubling in tellurium of 12.8 μm laser radiation

Abstract

Internal SHG efficiencies of 24% with signal strengths of 14 kW at 6.4 µm have been obtained by pumping tellurium with the 12.8 µm output from an optically pumped NH3 laser. The effects of free carriers generated by two photon absorption are shown to be insignificant at this operating wavelength and a value for the non-linear coefficient of d11 = 0.734 x 10-5 e.s.u. was determined. © 1977.
