Abstract
The World-Wide Web has already been demonstrated to be an excellent mechanism for the distribution of educational resources. However, current browsers do not provide much support for users navigating the Web. This is particularly true in cases where users follow a link from a previously prepared "trail" and then experience difficulties in returning to the point where they left. This paper describes a guided tour mechanism, known as Footsteps, which has been developed in an attempt to solve this problem. © 1995.
