    Abstract

Occurrence of the introduced eel parasite Anguillicola crassus is reported for the first time in Scotland. Although the host sample size was small (n = 2), intensity of infections (2-7 worms per fish) and small parasite size suggested that introduction here may have been recent. Further surveys of eels for presence of A. crassus in Scotland are recommended.
