Feed-Forward Integration of an Optical Frequency Comb and a Single-Frequency DPSS Laser Operating at the 87Sr Magic Wavelength

Abstract

The potential for diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers to provide narrow-linewidth and high-power outputs with excellent beam quality has motivated their development as sub-components for optical lattice clocks. A suitable laser candidate for such application should be compact in size while able to provide a repeatable frequency output with excellent stability. Here, we report a single frequency, Pr:YLF-Cr:LiCAF laser operating at the magic wavelength of the 87Sr lattice clock (813.42 nm), tightly integrated into a fully stabilized, atomically referenced, Ti:sapphire laser frequency comb (1-GHz, Novanta) through a combination of an acoustic-optic modulator (AOM) feed-forward technique and a feedback control, demonstrating the potential for applications in Sr lattice clock systems [1].
