Abstract
We report the observation of optical bistability with nanosecond optical switching in the lead chalcogenide semiconductor Pb1-xSn xSe. The observed refractive optical nonlinearities were generated by the absorption of radiation from a pulsed CO2 laser at incident intensities of 80 kW cm-2.
