Abstract

In this paper, a robust and efficient facial feature detection and tracking approach for head pose estimation and a reliable smile detector are presented. The new feature of integrating head pose estimation with smile detection is introduced to support learning of social communication skills in a new multimodal technology-enhanced learning environment where appropriate gaze and smiling behaviours are crucial.
