Abstract
The authors demonstrate that hybrid kinoforms are capable of generating and fanning out arrays of beams with a uniformity and efficiency suitable for optical interconnection applications. Moreover, this technique will be useful for arrays considerably larger than the 1 x 8 array which is demonstrated. Masks for fanout up to N = 128 have been designed, and work is currently underway to produce hgybrid kinoforms which generate two-dimensional arrays.
