Abstract

The phenomenon of phase synchronization in unidirectionally coupled external cavity semiconductor lasers operated in the pumping regime where both emissions exhibit low frequency fluctuations is examined. The synchronization and dynamical behavior can be described by the coupled Lang-Kobayashi equations with inclusion of a Langevin noise term, which in turn provides physical interpretation of the phenomenon to be synchronized dropouts in the Sisyphus process.
