Abstract
An alternative approach to the calculation of excitonic electroabsorption and electrorefraction in semiconductors is presented. Power-series solutions for the wave functions of the electron-hole relative motion are obtained. With the inclusion of a realistic broadening factor absorption coefficient and refractive index changes, spectra scalable to a wide range of semiconductors are calculated. Both three- and two-dimensional cases are treated. © 1993 The American Physical Society.
