Abstract

Granular material undergoing shear loading generates electrical charge during collisions between particles that alters gas-particle flow behaviour at different scales. In this study, we have derived a kinetic-theory based transport equation for charge transfer between binary mixture of particles from the Boltzmann equation that is coupled with the two-fluid model to simulate gas-solid suspensions at industrial scale applications. The derived continuum models will be validated against results from discrete element simulations in further studies.
