Abstract

The scattering of plane, harmonic electromagnetic waves from perfectly conducting right-circular cylinders is studied by making use of a surface radiation condition. Using spherical polar coordinates, the surface profile of the cylinder is described and the particular form taken by the surface radiation condition is determined. A numerical scheme is outlined and the problems caused by the discontinuity of curvature across the surface are discussed. The results produced are then favourably compared with those produced by the numerical electromagnetics code and physical optics.
