Abstract

Based on an integral equation approach a very efficient treatment of diffusive effects in dispersive optical bistability is presented that avoids any of the singularities inherent in the numerical representation of bistability problems. We calculate the dependence of critical detuning and critical input power on spotsize and surface recombination as well as the switching powers as a function of detuning. © 1987.
