Abstract

Stochastic dynamics of a rotating pendulum isinvestigated upon the development of a novel wave energyconverter. A dependency of the pendulum’s rotational potentialon the wave profile is studied. The latter is modeled usinga non-harmonic periodic function with a sharp or bent crest.It has been shown that the sharp wave profile significantlydeteriorates the rotational potential of the parametric pendulum,so that the system becomes non-rotational even in theprimary parametric resonance zone.
