Abstract

We have investigated the effects of ionizing radiation-induced changes on dispersion and refractive index in photonic crystal fibre, boron co-doped photosensitive fibre and standard SMF-28 fibre up to a level of 7 MGy of 60CO ?-radiation. We have been unable to observe any changes within an experimental error of ~1% for the dispersion value and <1.5 × 10-3 for the refractive index. © 2004 IOP Publishing Ltd.
