Direct bandstructure calculation in multilayered periodic structures

Abstract

We extend the modular LTR method in a simple way, to calculate the transmission, reflection and dispersion relationships in photonic crystal structures. The Kronig-Penny bandgap formula is generalized to an arbitrary refractive index profile.
