Abstract

Digital transformation has become a strategic necessity of supply chains especially in the face of growing disruption and environmental instability. This research aims at examining the impact of digital supply-chain maturity on firm performance considering the mediating role of supply-chain resilience and moderating role of environmental uncertainty in Jordanian manufacturing companies. The data was collected among 259 managers who were working in the field of supply-chain, operations, and executive. The data were analyzed using the PLS-SEM method in SmartPLS 4. Results indicate that digital supply-chain maturity has a positive effect on the supply-chain resilience (p < 0.001) and firm performance (p < 0.05). Also, the impact of the supply-chain resilience on the performance of the firms is positive and significant (p < 0.001). In addition, mediation analysis proves that supply-chain resilience mediates the association between digital supply-chain maturity and the performance of firms partially. The findings also show that environmental uncertainty has a statistically significant moderating impact on the direct relationship between digital supply-chain maturity and the performance of the firm (p < 0.05), which functions such that the stronger the level of uncertainty, the stronger the effect. The study contributes to the combination of the Resource-Based View and Dynamic Capabilities Theory by clarifying the transformation of digital resources into performance-related capabilities in the situations of emerging economies.
