Abstract
This paper arises from the research project *Designing Places with Older Adults: Towards Age-Friendly Communities* (2015–2019), specifically from the data collection phase entitled *Photographic Diaries*, conducted in the city of Pelotas, RS, Brazil. This phase aimed to accompany older adults in Pelotas and, through photographs and interviews, explore their everyday lives and sense of place within their neighbourhoods and the wider city. The article seeks to address the following questions: How can the daily lives of older adults be understood through the use of *Photographic Diaries*? Which places and types of activities contribute to improving quality of life for older adults in the city of Pelotas?
