Abstract
Digital transformation is a structured process that leverages emerging technologies to drive organisational growth, innovation, and competitiveness. It involves integrating advanced digital solutions, such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and IoT, to enhance business processes, improve decision-making, and optimise operational efficiencies. Despite the vast potential benefits, including improved productivity, customer experiences, and sustainability, organisations face significant challenges, such as change management, strategic alignment, and high initial investment costs. McKinsey’s digital transformation framework highlights the importance of strategic alignment, experienced project teams, and value creation to navigate these complexities successfully. Organisational capabilities play a critical role in digital transformation, encompassing operational and dynamic capabilities. Operational capabilities, such as strategy alignment and product leadership, ensure efficient day-to-day activities and support value creation. Dynamic capabilities enable firms to sense opportunities, seize them, and transform resources to maintain competitiveness. The case of a Turkish textile manufacturer illustrates the need for strategic alignment and systematic methodology in digital technology adoption. Ultimately, successful digital transformation depends on cultivating a digital-oriented organisational culture, leveraging operational excellence, and maintaining agility through dynamic capabilities, creating a sustainable competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving business environment.
