Abstract
In the context of sustainability, more low-rise residential green buildings are needed to counter the negative effects of climate change. Claims from architects and even clients regarding lowrise residential green buildings were undocumented due to lack of specific rating system to promote, substantiate and verify its legitimacy and benefits. The purpose of this study was to
investigate the drivers of and impediments to the green practices in the Philippine urban low-rise residential building market using Pasig City as a research milieu. The process started by identifying the respondents' background, both potential homeowners and architects. Collective factors were classified from the responses. Results identified variables that affected the decision
making of architects in considering the identified features and qualities of urban low-rise residential green buildings upon its construction was independent of age, type and length of stay on their respective residences and educational attainment. On the other hand, clients’ response showed that green building considerations like statutory incentives on construction and design of
green-buildings and the sustainable occupancy were dependent of age. All other tests indicated independence in terms of their type of residence and length of stay. As an output of this study, a reference framework was done to be recommended to LGU’s in order to promote green practices in the low-rise residential building market.
